Lesson 2 in Monopoly, A fool and his money...

I realize that you did beat the socks off your sister. But, I am quite concerned that you felt that you had to jump in there and buy everything right off the bat. You bought everything. You didn't take time to think about what you bought or plan. My dad used to say to us all the time, "a fool and his money will soon be parted". This was supposed to slow us down from irrational spending of the dollar or quarter that we had received. Which is better, to buy a blow pop or a yoyo? It didn't matter, we never saw money anyhow. So, whether to save for a yoyo or eat the blow pop now, you had your thrill in having the money. Enjoy your monopoly season and think, next time before you spend.:)

Lesson 1 from Monopoly-$500=3 hundred dollar bills,2 fifties and 10 tens.

I forgot to teach you how to make change? You and Eva are having a great time. I never realized that you guys didn't know what change was. You looked at it as getting money back and wouldn't change each other's money for anything. Maybe we can do what mommy and daddy do? Give more than it costs and get money back? Making change is what we all have to do. I like how you launched out and bought whatever you landed on in game one. You didn't let big sis intimidate you. Her style was to keep her precious $500 dollar bill crisp and untouched, as though she couldn't buy anything. What is $500-$360=? That will be the question for the rest of you guys' lives. Making change is very important. Please don't give up because you never really see money.

Blowin' out the candles, Now I'm 10!

Now back to "Today"

10 years old! Ten years ago today, we didn’t know who you were. 10 years ago today, you were a mystery. The sweetness of your smile. The Funny things you say and do. What a bright boy, you have begun. We used to read together, When we were…6,7,8,9 Now you are 10, 10, 10. A decade years old. This, first decade was a whopper. You jumped on the scene with all of the power and strength of every other Walker man that I have ever known. Grandma Ruth smiled ever so wide to see your little face. Grandpa Bob and My Dad were 60 and 80 years, your senior, almost to the day. You were wished for. Exactly one year earlier, I saw cousin Ton,Ton and I kissed him and said, Oh my, oh my I want another one and you were more than I ever imagined that day. What a wish! Take me half way across the sky. You have stretched me past my wildest dreams in having and knowing you and seeing your tremendous contribution to the family. I do expect great things from you! We were waiting, we were watching, you surprised us, by your comforting,. It was lonely, only 4 of themJ We were looking for someone special to love and God reached inside and sent us you. He did , Took us halfway, across the sky, Out where the hope is growing, we keep knowing why. God is in charge. He gave us you. The precious picture of his love is here in view. You’re impulsive and considerate, You are helpful and sometimes obstinate, We can trust you with responsibilities, We see that you are the boy, we know is filling our hearts with love and precious peace. Take me half way across the sky, You stretched my wildest dreams of only you and I We went halfway across the sky, To catch a glimpse of God’s love beaming from your eyes.
